Standard Chartered Bank completes sale of pan-Asian Principal Finance Real Estate business to private equity firm Actis

Standard Chartered Bank ("SCB") has completed the sale of its Principal Finance Real Estate business in Asia ("PFRE") to Actis, a leading private equity, energy, infrastructure and real estate investor in growth markets across Africa, Asia and Latin America.

Hodes Weill Securities, LLC, acted as global financial advisor to SCB, and as capital arranger for the transaction.

The PFRE business includes a team of 20 experienced real estate professionals three of whom have joined the Actis partnership. The team was formed in mid-2010 and has decades of experience with a diverse background in the fields of real estate private equity investment, operations, developments and asset management.

The business will continue to invest with, and provide strategic value to, high-quality operating partners, across diverse property types in Greater China, South Korea, Southeast Asia, and India. The transaction includes a portfolio of seven property investments in China, India, and South Korea.

Actis, founded in 2004, is a global platform offering a multi-asset strategy through the asset classes of private equity, energy, infrastructure and real estate. The firm has raised US$13bn since inception and employs over 200 people, including a team of approximately 100 investment professionals, working across 13 offices globally. Following the transaction, Actis will be adding new offices in Shanghai and Seoul.
