Matt Hershey is a Partner of Hodes Weill & Associates leading its Amsterdam-based office. His responsibilities include working with institutional investors on Hodes Weill offerings and transactions and coordinating the firm’s Marketing and Distribution efforts globally. He also represents the firm in western North America for real estate operating companies and investment managers seeking strategic advisory and capital raising solutions. He is a member of the firm’s Operating Committee.
Mr. Hershey has been involved in institutional real estate and real assets investment management for 25 years. His experience spans the major and emerging property types within real estate and many of the other real asset sectors including infrastructure, energy and natural resources. Capital structures have included funds, programmatic joint ventures, project finance and corporate recapitalizations and restructurings. He has worked with institutional and private wealth investors from North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific on assets and strategies throughout those regions in highly structured cross-board investment vehicles. From 2006 to 2012, he was a leading member in the team that started and grew of Brookfield’s third-party asset management business, ending his tenure as a Senior Vice President. Starting in 2000, Mr. Hershey joined Tishman Speyer spending six years with the firm. He worked in leasing, acquisitions and ultimately capital markets, assisting in the development of their funds management business as a Senior Director. He practiced architecture in Washington, DC for four years preceding his MBA.
Mr. Hershey received an MBA from New York University Stern School of Business and a BArch from Virginia Tech. He is a member of the Pension Real Estate Association where he serves on the PREA Institute Committee, INREV and the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst Association.
