Hodes Weill & Associates acted as global placement agent to Cerberus Capital Management (“Cerberus”) in connection with the private placement of interests to certain investors in Cerberus Institutional Real Estate Partners IV, L.P. (the “Fund” or “CIREP IV”). Established in 1992, Cerberus Capital Management, L.P. is one of the world's leading private investment firms. Cerberus has more than US$30 billion under management invested in four primary strategies: operational private equity, both control and non-control; distressed securities and assets; commercial mid-market lending; and real estate-related investments. From its headquarters in New York City and network of affiliate and advisory offices in the U.S., Europe and Asia, Cerberus has the on-the-ground presence to invest in multiple sectors, through multiple investment strategies, in countries around the world.

 

OUTCOME/RESULTS

The Fund closed with US$1.82 billion of capital commitments, 20% over its original target raise of US$1.5 billion and an increase of 28% from its predecessor vehicle, CIREP III. Hodes Well advised in the placement of equity interests to a group of more than 60 institutional investors, including sovereign wealth funds, public pension plans, corporate plans and insurance companies from five countries. CIREP IV will pursue a similar investment strategy as that of predecessor vehicle, focusing on distressed debt securities and assets, special situations, direct equity, mortgage loans and bridge financings, mezzanine debt and preferred equity globally with a particular focus in the United States and Western Europe, with the ability to adjust strategy based on market conditions.
